DC's Wine Country
The nation's first wines were produced in Virginia over 400 years ago, and today Virginia ranks fifth in the country among vinifera grape-growing states. Visitors coming to Washington DC can now add a trip to DC's Wine Country on their itinerary. Not only are there almost 100 wineries in Virginia, 40 are within an hours drive from the Nation's capital and 20 are in Loudoun County alone. Take the kids to visit the Heritage Farm Museum of Loudoun County in Sterling for a day full of tractors! See antique and model tractors, measure up to really big tires and trucks, try your hand at make-believe tractor driving, and cruise Loudoun County on a custom toy tractor mat. Wagon rides will take place weather permitting. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children, and discounts are available for seniors and groups.
